The Rudolf Steiner Schule Basel marks a hundred years in 2026. It covers the whole school career on one site: parent-and-child groups, a home playgroup and a nature playgroup, kindergarten, then the lower level in Classes 1 to 6, the middle level in Classes 7 to 9 and the upper level in Classes 10 to 12, with the Matura taken in Class 13. Teaching is in German, and the school sums up its method as learning with head, heart and hand; eurythmy, a canteen, mediation and counselling all sit inside the school day. It runs as a day school with supervised daytime care. The parental contribution is calculated from both parents' gross income and assets as declared for tax, recalculated each spring and charged once per family however many children attend, and upper-school pupils from Basel-Stadt, Baselland, Solothurn and Aargau may also draw cantonal stipends.
