About the School
Rudolf Steiner Schule Birseck is a private Steiner-Waldorf day school in Aesch, Basel-Landschaft, located in the Dreiländereck region close to Basel and the Goetheanum in Dornach. Founded from a parent-led initiative in 1977, the school has grown into a full educational community from kindergarten through to Grade 12, with around 350 students and more than 60 teachers. Its pedagogy follows Rudolf Steiner's holistic approach, combining academic learning with art, music, movement, crafts, practical work, and social development. What differentiates Birseck is its strong community culture and large school garden of more than 5,000 square metres, where hands-on learning with plants, food, animals, and seasonal rhythms becomes part of school life. Families often choose it for its creative depth, human-scale environment, and alternative to conventional schooling near Basel.
Located in the beautiful Aesch, Basel-Landschaft, Rudolf Steiner Schule Birseck has been providing exceptional education since 1978. With a student body of 500 students from around the world, the school offers a truly international learning environment with instruction in German & French.
