SIS Swiss International School Basel is a private bilingual day school on Erlenstrasse in Basel, taking children from age three to the end of upper secondary. The kindergarten covers ages three to six, followed by primary and secondary school and then the SIS Bilingual College. The college leads to the nationally recognised bilingual Matura, awarded as a Hausmaturität, and students may also sit the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. It can be taken in six years directly after primary school, or in four years after secondary school. Teaching is in English and German at every stage. Around 360 students attend, from more than 40 nationalities. Basel opened in 1999 as the first SIS campus; the network now runs seven schools in Switzerland.
