The Freie Schule Zürich was founded in 1874 and teaches on two sites in the city, at Waldmannstrasse for the primary and secondary years and at Kreuzstrasse for the upper-secondary stage. Provision runs from primary through a transition class, secondary school, a small class at secondary level, a tenth reflection year, a short-form Gymnasium and a Fachmittelschule. Teaching is in German, and students can sit Cambridge English examinations and the ECDL computing certificate. The school keeps classes small and belongs to the Verband Zürcher Privatschulen and the Bildungsverband Zürich.
