The Privatschule Toblerstrasse grew out of volunteer tutoring at the Toblerplatz community centre and was founded in 1992 by a handful of teachers; a supporting association took over its running in 1996. It is a non-profit day school at Toblerstrasse 72 in Zurich, covering the primary and secondary years, each section with its own head. Classes are small — five to ten pupils at secondary level — and since about 1999 the secondary years have run in cooperation with a special-education school. Around 2000 the historic building was renovated and a wooden pavilion added in the garden for the primary classes, which the NZZ described as a piece of furniture in the garden. Fees are a monthly flat rate including materials: CHF 2,050 at lower primary, CHF 2,150 at middle level and CHF 2,250 at secondary, with lunch and midday care CHF 150 more.
