The Kollegium Spiritus Sanctus is a gymnasium at Kollegiumsplatz in Brig, in the German-speaking Upper Valais. Kaspar Stockalper vom Thurm founded it in 1662, and it has been the cantonal school of the Upper Valais since 1848. It runs a five-year gymnasium leading to the Swiss Matura and a four-year sports school attached to a National Performance Centre for snow sports. Schwerpunkt subjects are offered across all four areas: languages, science and mathematics, humanities and social sciences, and art and music. All students share a common first year, choose their Schwerpunkt in the second semester, and add a complementary subject in year three. A separate boarding foundation provides residential places, and a church rectorate operates alongside the school.
