About the School
The Rudolf Steiner Schule Sihlau is at Sihlstrasse 23 in Adliswil, in the Sihl valley south of Zurich. It began in 1976 as a third class stream of the Rudolf Steiner Schule Plattenstrasse, became an independent school association in 1979 and moved into its own building in Adliswil in 1983. It runs a playgroup and kindergarten, then Classes 1 to 6 with a class teacher and Classes 7 to 9 as the upper level; Classes 10 to 13 are taken at the Atelierschule Zürich, which Sihlau co-founded in 2003 with the Rudolf Steiner Schule Platte and which leads to the Matura. About 300 children attend. After-school care, a support department and a dining hall added in 2016 sit alongside the classes. Fees are agreed afresh each year and calculated from family income between a published floor and ceiling, with a scholarship fund for families who cannot meet the floor.
