Scuola Steiner Rivapiana-Locarno is a private Waldorf day school in the Rivapiana district of Minusio, next to Locarno, taking children from nursery age through to the eighth class. It runs two kindergartens, Tulipano and Girasole, then five elementary classes and three secondary classes. The elementary classes are deliberately mixed-age, pairing two year groups in one classroom — unusual when the school opened and more common since. Teaching is in Italian and follows Steiner pedagogy. The school was founded in 1990 and also runs courses for children and adults, and summer programmes, on the same site.
