About the School
Schule Talenta is a private all-day school at Weinbergstrasse in Zurich for gifted children. Xaver Heer, a biologist and schoolteacher who had watched his own son go under-challenged in class, founded the association behind it in February 1996 in the canton of Zug; Jean-Jacques Bertschi, a Zurich education politician, joined the same year and took the presidency. The school opened in rooms lent by a state school in Witikon and moved to Weinbergstrasse in 2007, adding a fourth group. Around 50 children are taught in four base groups of ten to fourteen, each with one teacher, running from the second kindergarten year to the sixth primary class. Admission requires a diagnosed high potential established by a specialist assessment. The school receives no state subsidy and sets fees on a cost-recovery basis.
