About the School
The École Française de Bâle was founded in 1884 and teaches the official French national curriculum on two sites in Basel: a crèche and maternelle at Dornacherstrasse, and the élémentaire at Engelgasse. It takes children from three months old through to the 6ème, the first year of French lower secondary. Teaching is in French, with weekly German and English lessons, and pupils can sit the DELF, Goethe and Cambridge English certificates. The school is a private association, homologated by the French Ministry of Education and the Agence pour l'Enseignement Français à l'Étranger, and supervised by the Basel-Stadt education authorities and the Académie de Strasbourg.
