The British School Bern is a private day school at Sperlisacher in Rüfenacht, outside Bern, founded in 1988. It takes pupils of all nationalities from three to eighteen and follows the British curriculum, having extended into the secondary years comparatively recently. Teaching is in English, with German and French built into the timetable, and classes are small. The school is locally owned and run, by its owner Aisha Osman, and describes itself as a women-owned institution; the canton of Bern recognises it as a partner in providing education for international families. Fees may be paid monthly, termly or yearly, with a one-off registration charge, while the ski programme, school trips and after-school activities are billed separately.
