About the School
La Découverte is a bilingual French-English school founded in 1992 by Catherine Firmenich and directed since 2019 by her son Nicolas. It became bilingual in 2003 and opened a second campus in 2017, so it now teaches on Avenue de Sécheron in Geneva and on Chemin du Triangle in Mies, on the Vaud shore of the lake. Both campuses take children from three to twelve, and a secondary division, Collège La Découverte, continues from twelve. Each class has two teachers, one anglophone and one francophone, and every subject is taught in both languages. The programme follows the Plan d'études romand within an active pedagogy. More than 300 pupils attend. The school is open from eight in the morning until six in the evening, and until midday on Wednesdays.
