IMD Business School

IMD is an executive-education institution and business school at Chemin de Bellerive in Lausanne, on Lake Geneva, with hubs in Singapore, Shenzhen and Cape Town. It was created in 1990 by merging two older institutes: the International Management Institute, founded in Geneva in 1946 by Alcan, and IMEDE, set up in Lausanne in 1957 by Nestlé with Harvard Business School. Its degree programmes are the MBA, the Executive MBA and an MSc in Sustainable Management and Technology, alongside executive masters in sustainable business transformation and in AI and digital business transformation, plus open programmes, certificates and custom programmes for organisations. More than 20,000 executives from over 120 countries attend each year, and the alumni body numbers over 145,000 in more than 180 countries. IMD publishes the annual World Competitiveness Ranking, which covered 70 economies in its 2026 edition.
