Franklin University Switzerland is an American university in Sorengo, above Lugano, founded in 1969. Its students come from 60 different countries. Undergraduate study covers a range of majors and minors, and graduate programmes include a Master of Arts in Sustainability and Transformation and a PhD in Political Science. Franklin holds dual accreditation: it is a fully accredited university in the United States through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and a fully accredited university institute in Switzerland. Its signature Academic Travel programme combines classroom preparation with two weeks of study abroad with the same professor every semester. The university reports that 95 per cent of alumni find full-time work within a year of graduating.
